Viola Elizabeth Basulto

Viola Elizabeth Basulto went home to be with Jesus on 6 May 2022. She was born on 6 October 1961, in Barstow, California, daughter of Ralph and Lydia Sanchez. Viola graduated from Barstow High School in 1979. After she graduated high school she attended Barstow Academy of Beauty. Years later she opened her own beauty shop called Viola's Visions. In 1982 she married Art Basulto in St Joseph Catholic Church, and went on to have three wonderful children, Lucas, Teresita, and Abraham. Viola was active in her community. She served on the Barstow Planning Commission from February 2011 to December 2014. She was Chairman of the Old Spanish Trail Day celebration. Viola loved making people happy. She enjoyed feeding folks, teaching arts and crafts, making dream catchers, and playing with kids. She was generous, loving, kind, and put others needs before her own. Viola loved the Lord. From an early age she understood and practiced grace, turning the other cheek, and loving others as the Lord loves us. She was a free spirit, had an unlimited imagination, and if you stood still long enough she would tell you about the water flowing deep beneath the dry bed of the Mojave River, or the wonders that the Mojave Desert had to offer. Viola is preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Lydia, and her brothers Frankie and Michael. She is survived by her husband Art, daughter Teresita, sons Lucas and Abraham, sisters Cindy and Millie, brothers Isac, Ralph, and Demsey, in-laws, aunts, cousins, many nieces and nephews, and close friends who were like family to her. Viola was a big kid at heart. She was friendly to all she met and never hesitated to help people or let them know that God loved them. She will be greatly missed.
