Sonya Cortinas

“Sonya L. Cortinas (Atkins) Entered into Eternal Rest Friday, November 29, 2019, at USC Norris Cancer Hospital in California, while surrounded by her children and sister. She was born July 13, 1963, in Long Beach, California, adopted by Rey and Reina Lozano at the age of 5. Sonya spent most of her childhood in California. She was preceded in death by her brother Charles Fredrick Atkins, Jr. She is survived by her sister Heidi Jaramillo, brother John Atkins, and children: Heather Herrera, Kyle Cortinas, Kailani Delacirna, and two grandchildren. Periodically, she visited and lived in Silver City New Mexico, where she attended Silver High School and always wanted to return to New Mexico. She had a passion for animals and was a Veterinary Technician for many years. After caring for her ailing father Rey Lozano, she changed to care giving. She loved her clients and treated them like they were family. She touched so many people in her own special way. She will be forever missed and loved.Funeral Mass is planned for Thursday, December 19th at 1PM at St. Mel Roman Catholic Church 4140 Corona Avenue. Norco, CA. “, “”
