“Sean Lester Rooks was born on September 9, 1969 in New York City, NY to Deborah and Roland Rooks. Sean and his mother moved to Los Angeles in 1973. Sean graduated from Fontana High School in 1987, receiving a full scholarship to the University of Arizona where he played for Lute Olson and teammates such as Steve Kerr and Sean Elliott. During those years with the Cats, he played in four NCAA Tournaments, making one Final Four appearance. While at Arizona, Sean met and married Susanne O'Brien, and together they had two children, Kameron and Khayla. In 1992, Sean was drafted in the NBA and played for 12 seasons with the Dallas Mavericks Clippers, Lakers, Magic, Timberwolves and Hornets, before finding his niche as an NBA assistant coach. Most recently he worked with Philadephia 76ers head coach Brett Brown as a player development assistant. Sean loved the game and possessed a sincere passion and positive approach to all he would bring to his team. He leaves to cherish his memory, his children, their mother, his mother Deborah Young and stepfather, Philemon Young Jr., sisters Topaz Lemons and Takara Rooks-Poteat, uncles Carlton Rooks and James Brown, as well as a host of relatives and friends. Funeral Services were held Friday, June 17, 2016 at Abundant Living Family Church in Rancho Cucamonga followed by burial at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Covina.”, “”
