Michael Thomson

“Age 48 years, resident of Rancho Cucamonga, formerly of El Monte, San Francisco, Oahu, New York and Oaklandi. Entered Into Eternal Rest on Sunday afternoon July 14, 2019 with his cherished family, extended family and girlfriend by his side. He was born on February 19, 1971, in Saigon, Vietnam, the beloved son to his parents John Thomson (late Vietnam veteran) and Dung Kim" Vo. Mike was raised in Houston, TX until 16 years of age then moved to El Monte, California along with his older brother Tom and younger sister Sheila. Following high school graduation, Mike joined the United States Navy in March 1991 and became a Hospital Corpsman as the Persian Gulf War period was coming to a close. In early 1994 Mike was involved in a joint training mission with the Marine Corps when an explosion occurred that seriously injured Mike, resulting in permanent disability; three Marines succumbed in the accident as well. Michael was honorably discharged in June 1995 and went on to obtain a degree in Integrative Biology from UC Berkeley. Mike leaves behind his girlfriend Holly, his mother Kim, sisters Sheila, Maureen & Jean, brothers Tom & Chris, nieces and nephews: Chelsey, CJ, Meghan, Ryan, Luke, Nate, Bailey, Tanner, and Jackson. He also leaves behind lifelong friends (extended family) Renee Meenan, Sharon Meenan, Tom Meenan and Fallon Meenan, and many friends. Services will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 from 11AM-2PM.
