“It is with great sadness that the family of Michael Simon (80) announces his passing in the late evening hours of Thursday, March 5, 2020, after succumbing to complications during hospitalization in Los Angeles County.Michael was born and raised in Brooklyn by his parents Joseph and Victoria Simon. He graduated from Manhattan High School of Aviation Trades in New York, NY and served his country in the United States Air Force at age 17. Michael enjoyed a wide variety of careers over his lifetime and was successful at them all. While living in Brooklyn he drove an ambulance, worked on Norwegian Cruise Lines, and was the business owner of two Shell gas and service stations.In the early 1970's Michael moved from New York to California where he became a Real Estate Broker. He opened Saddleback Properties, where he specialized in property management and sales for several years. Following his adventurous heart, Michael then decided to take a break from the real estate industry and worked for a military defense company (Valentec Wells) where he met and married his wife of 39 years, Maria de Los Angeles. After Valentec Wells closed its doors, Michael returned to Saddleback Properties full time where he dedicated his remaining years in the workforce.Michael loved reading the bible, spending time with his wife and family, telling jokes and teaching his grandchildren everything he could about life. Before becoming ill, he enjoyed many hobbies, such as, camping with family and friends, taking long motorcycle rides with Maria, bowling, going to Las Vegas, family barbeques, playing video games and learning about the latest technology. Michael made lifelong friends out of everyone he would meet and had the special ability to make everyone feel like they were his best friend.Michael will forever be remembered by his wife and best friend of 39 years, Maria, his children Michael Jr., Deborah (Jack), Kenneth (Lilia) Lolita (James), Mary Alice (Stephen), Carol (John), Joe, Marilou (Dan), Robert, by his grandchildren Adam, Amanda Roseanna, Amanda, Ashley, Benjamin, Candace, Eileen, Isaiah, Jaclyn, Joni, Joseph, Joshua, Laura Anne, Marissa, Nicole Marie, Nichole, Ryan, Sabrina, Zach, his siblings Athena, Edward and Frederick, his great-grand-children Anthony, Charlotte Rose, Destiny, Jacob, Jasmine, little Jasmine, John Jr., Koda, Leon, Luke, Skarlett, great-great grandchild Cameron, along with his long-time friends Frank and Emma, Goddaughter Charise, and numerous other friends and relatives.Michael was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Victoria (Shamoun) Simon and great-grand daughter Angelina.
