It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Maria del Carmen Casillas, a beloved mother, educator, and cherished member of the Riverside community. Maria, aged 84, left this world peacefully on September 14, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on August 7, 1941 in Mexico, Maria dedicated her life to nurturing the minds and hearts of the young as a teaching assistant in the educational field.
Maria's legacy is one of love, commitment, and resilience. She raised her three sons, Francisco "Frank", Jr., Edgardo and Jorge Casillas, with unwavering love and wisdom, instilling in him the values of compassion, hard work, and integrity. As a member of the Hispanic community, Maria took great pride in her heritage, serving as a role model for many and inspiring those around her to celebrate their roots.
In honor of her life and teachings, a series of services will be held on October 1, 2025. A public viewing will take place at Queen of Angels Church from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Rosary at 10:30 AM. A Mass celebrating Maria's remarkable life will begin at 11:00 AM, where family, friends, and the community will gather to share their memories and express their love for her. Following the Mass, Maria will be laid to rest in a graveside service at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
Maria del Carmen Casillas will be remembered for her kind spirit, nurturing heart, and the positive impact she had on so many lives. Her warmth and wisdom will be forever cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
