“December 30, 1965 ~ September 10, 2016On December 30, 1965, Josie and Mike Garcia were blessed with a baby girl that they named Laura Michelle. During the early years of Laura's life, she was cared for by her grandmother who everyone affectionately knew as Nana". Over the formative years to come, Laura grew very close to her Nana and later when Laura was blessed with children of her own, she still felt a close connection with her Nana.Laura began her Christian journey when she was baptized Catholic and continued that journey while attending Catholic schools throughout her academic journey to adulthood. In 1984, Laura graduated high school from Sacred Heart Of Mary in Montebello California and later attend Marymount college for two years. The following year, in 1986, Laura attended the University Of Southern California where She obtained her bachelors of Arts in Psychology in 1988. During her time at USC she would meet her future husband Kevin Tovar.Laura first met Kevin in 1987, while waiting in the class registration line to sign up for classes at the University of Southern California. It was there that Kevin saw for first time her beauty and intelligence and they became friends. Still, this was not their time and they went their separate ways. Laura went on to teach the third grade at Santa Isabel Catholic school. Four years later, Laura and Kevin met again after both graduating from USC and became engaged in 1991. Laura and Kevin would be married on July 11, 1992.Shortly after getting married Laura and Kevin began their new life by moving to Modesto California where they lived for two years. It was in Modesto that their first son, Kevin Tovar was born in May of 1993. In 1994 Laura and the family moved to Mexico City, Mexico to begin their next chapter in life. Soon after moving to Mexico City, their second son Max was born in February of 1995. In July of 1996 Laura gave birth to her third son Benjamin. It was in Mexico City that Laura blossomed as a mother as she loved the culture of the Mexican people and especially enjoyed the history of the Catholic church. Often times Laura and the family would attend Mass in churches that were built four hundred years prior, all the while, taking the time to teach her family the history and teachings of her Catholic faith that she believed in so strongly.Laura and the family moved back to the United States in 1997 and resettled in Los Angeles California where they would live for the next ten years. In 2007, Laura and the family moved to their current home located in the Cleveland National Forest just above Lake Elsinore California in a community called Rancho Capistrano".Laura's home at Rancho Capistrano is the home that Laura always called Home Sweet Home". She enjoyed all the places the family lived but would always remind the family that she loved her home high in the mountains the most. It was at the ranch that Laura developed her love for her fellow neighbors, especially her friends in the book club. Laura always enjoyed reading and discussing what she had learned with her friends. On September 10, 2016 Laura Michel Tovar passed away from a four year battle with ovarian cancer. Laura was first diagnosed in August of 2012 and battled cancer for the following four years. Laura's battle with cancer started with surgery in 2012 and at that time she was given a three to six months life expectancy. Thanks to the glory of God, Laura was with us another 4 years. Before Laura passed, she would always say You can't have yesterday back. If you keep thinking about the past, you will never get to enjoy the present and the future." That bit of advice helped the Tovar family to Live for Today" during her final years and enjoy the now!Services for Laura will be held Monday, September 19, 2016 at 10AM at Saint Fances of Rome Catholic Church in Wildomar, CA. “, “”
