Irvin Lapp

July 3, 1941 — February 14, 2022

Irvin (Bob) George Lapp, Age 81, of Oak Hills, California, passed away unexpectedly on February 14th due to natural causes. Bob was born on July 3rd, 1941 to George Lapp and Rachel Rossman Lapp in Greely Colorado. In 1957 Bob met Carol June Esgar while attending Aurora High School. Bob and his family moved to California during his high school years, and the distance only made Bob's love for Carol grow stronger. Bob drove with a friend out to Colorado to allow them to get there without stopping and to enable Bob the opportunity to ask Carol for her hand in marriage. Carol moved out to California with Bob that weekend and they were married soon after. They went on to have four children, Deborah Lapp, Donald Lapp, David Lapp and Daniel Lapp. While attending high school, Bob started his first and only job at 15 with Safeway Stores inc., as a bagger, kickstarting a 44-year career with Safeway. Bob's love for the company and his strong desire to be the best at whatever he worked on, served him well over the years, having received Store Manager of the Year recognition on numerous occasions, and being recognized as one of the top developers of talent in the company. Bob mentored several up-and-coming store manager's over the years and those connections led to many lifelong friendships. Bob was known for his direct approach and quick wit and will be remembered by his favorite statement. "You got a minute?" In 1999, Bob retired from Safeway and spent his time with Carol building and tending to their dream home in Oak Hills, CA and spending time with their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Bob always had a special passion for woodworking and over the years he made it a point to build every child a wooden train set. Bob was predeceased by his parents George and Rachel Lapp, His Brother Thomas Lapp, and the love of his life, and high school sweetheart, Carol Lapp. He is survived by his sister Norma Makela, his brother Leonard Lapp and his wife Karen Lapp, his four children, Deborah Lapp, Donald Lapp, David Lapp and his wife Cynthia Lapp, Daniel Lapp and his wife Yvette Lapp, along with 9 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. To honor his wishes, services will be held with immediate family in NH later this Summer.
