Listen to Obituary

Henriette 'Riky' Spikker Vuist passed away peacefully on May 22, 2026 at age 90 after a full and joyful life. She leaves behind her three daughters and their husbands and 7 grandchildren who remember her laugh and vibrant spirit, love for family and for her husband, Gerard, who preceded her in death in 2025.

Riky was one of nine children and grew up in Lettele, Holland, living through having World War II on her doorstep. After the war she attended school, biking to her classes and eventually to work in an office in a nearby town. She met Gerard at a New Years Eve dance and they married in 1961 and emigrated to the United States, joining the Vuist family members living in California. Riky and Gerard created a loving home and spent the years with their daughters camping and fishing, later traveling to many places until in their 80s.

Riky and Gerard attended St. Edwards Catholic Church from the 1970's and showed their love and dedication to their faith through their involvement in RCIA, Marriage Encounter, Eucharistic Ministry and the Catholic Daughters.

Riky was fortunate to have grown old with Gerard, enjoying later life with family, daily tea time, and knitting and trips. We will miss her loving care but are comforted knowing she and dad are together again after their short separation.
