Harry Paul Nelson

September 19, 1934 — March 1, 2024

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Harry Paul Nelson, who was called to his eternal rest on March 1, 2024, at the age of 89, in Corona, California. Born on September 19, 1934, in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, Harry led a life marked by dedication to his family, his faith, and his community.

Harry is survived by a loving family: his devoted children, Terry Michael (Dave), Harry C. Nelson (Kathy), Suzy Lins (Joe), and Louise Becker (Ted). He was a cherished grandfather to 15 grandchildren and the proud great-grandfather of 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy and pride. He is preceded in death by his father, Harry Charles Nelson, his mother, Sara Elizabeth Nelson, his wife, Doreen Nelson, his wife Lorraine Hart Nelson, his son, Michael Craig Nelson, his grandsons, Johnathon Paul Nelson, and Joseph Patrick Nelson.

In his youth, Harry exhibited exceptional athletic ability and distinguished himself as a track star during his high school years and later at Long Beach City College, where he held the school-record for the 440 and the 880 relay. His remarkable abilities earned him the honor of representing Canada in the 1956 Olympic Games, the1955 Pan American Games, and the 1954 British Empire Games.

Harry's professional life was characterized by entrepreneurship as he successfully owned and operated a manufacturing business in Corona, California, for 44 years. He worked closely with his son and business partner, Harry C. Nelson, with whom he also entered the construction industry in Anaheim, California.

A man of many interests, Harry found pleasure in the simple joys of life, such as golfing, exploring the great outdoors in his RV, and the occasional visit to casinos. With his beloved wife, Doreen, who passed in 1999, they raised their five children in the faith-filled community of Placentia, California, where they were active congregants of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Harry had a loving second wife, Lorraine Hart Nelson, they lived in Menifee, California until her passing in 2022. They enjoyed golfing and traveling in their RV together across the United States. Harry and Lorraine loved having their combined families together during the holidays and enjoyed celebrations such as their famous “Blackpatch Golf Tournament.”

Harry's memory will be forever held in the hearts of those who knew him as a man of integrity, strength, and love. His legacy endures through the lives of his family and all those he touched.

He will be forever missed. Rest in Peace.
