Donald L Selby, Sr. 92 entered into Heaven's Gate in Jerome, Idaho with his family by his side on November 17, 2022. Don was born on July 21, 1930 in Sparta, Tennessee to Odie and Alta Pearl Selby. He was the fourth of eight children. Don was raised on the family farm in Sparta where he developed his love for farm life. He loved to raise animals to sell and helped his grandchildren with various 4H projects. He had a "Green Thumb" which enabled him to produce a bountiful garden and a skill of maintaining a beautiful yard with well-manicured plants, shrubs and trees. Don met the love of his life, Imojean Farrell at a high school basketball game against rival Smithville. They dated and then eloped to be married in Georgia on December 17, 1950. They added to their family a son, Donald Jr. in December 1951 followed by a daughter Patti in October 1953 and completed their family with daughter Karyn in February 1959. They shared 60 years of marriage until Imojean's passing in March 2011. During his time in Tennessee, Don had various vocations. He owned a billiards hall, was a district sales manager for an insurance company and was a nursery plant grower. In 1964, Don moved his family to Norco, Ca where he enjoyed the rural lifestyle that it offered. He was employed at Kirkhill Rubber Company in Brea, Ca until his retirement in 1980. While at Kirkhill Rubber, he was a foreman and later promoted into sales. After his retirement from Kirkhill Rubber, Don ran a Christmas Tree farm in Norco. Don and Imojean moved to Sun City, Ca in 1997 to enjoy their retired years. Don was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Arnold Bourland, Hazel Canary, Jeanetta Bandy, Bettye Wilson and Delano Selby. He is survived by his children Donald, Jr. (Sandra) Selby of Nuevo, Ca, Patti (Carl) Slagel of Jerome, Id, Karyn (Perry) Keeter of Hemet, Ca, brother Odie Malvin "Chick" (Marie) Selby of Sparta, Tn and brother Robert (Brenda) Selby of Sparta, Tn. In addition, he is survived by 7 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
