Donald Charles Huff

February 10, 1932 — May 31, 2023

DONALD CHARLES HUFF, of Riverside, California, and formerly of Honolulu, Hawaii for sixty (60) years, passed away peacefully at age 91 on May 31, 2023 at Westmont Village (formerly Air Force Village West) in Riverside. He was born on February 10, 1932, in New York City, New York. Donald in his early life moved around the country a number of times due to his father's work in the oil and gas industry, to such places as Olney, Illinois, Tulsa, Oklahoma and Houston, Texas where he graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School. He joined the United States Marine Corps Reserve in March 1950 and his unit was activated a few months later with the onset of the Korea War. Upon returning from his military service, Donald attended the University of Houston for a portion of his college undergraduate education. In July 1956, he took a job at Lockheed Aircraft in Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii, where he met his wife-to-be, Marion Ruth Irons. Donald worked for a number of employers that involved accounting and office management such as NCR, Occidental Chemical, United Agri Products, Ritz Department Stores and Security Title Corp. He resumed his college education at the University of Hawaii at Manoa and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration in 1983. In 1994 Donald became semi-retired and worked for a number of years as a legislative aide during sessions of the Hawaii Legislature. He was also elected for several terms to the Hawaii Kai Neighborhood Board No.1 from 1995 to 2007. Donald was also a long-time member of the Honolulu Cricket Club which would play matches against the crews of visiting navy ships in Kapiolani Park. In June 2016, after his wife Marion passed away the previous month, Donald moved to Riverside, California to live with his son David, daughter-in-law Melinda and his two grandchildren. As a long-time Los Angeles Lakers fan, he was able to fulfill his dream of attending the team's games in-person for several seasons at Staples Center in Downtown LA due to his son being a season ticket holder. A memorial service will be held at a later date with interment to take place at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific.
