Arthur William Romero

October 26, 1955 — July 20, 2024

We lost a beloved family member on Saturday, July 20, 2024, when Arthur William Romero, 68, passed away.

He was born in Calexico, California on October 26, 1955 to Virginia and Arthur V. Romero. Arthur graduated from Calexico High School in 1974, and continued his education by earning his degree from the University of San Diego, Class of 1978.

Arthur worked at Allstate during the mid 1980s before finding his lifetime position working for the City of San Diego’s Risk Management Department until his retirement in 2015.

Upon his “retirement” he continued to work for his beloved San Diego Padres for over 20 years as a claims investigator, spending his time within the first aid offices at Petco Park.

He is survived by his twin brother, Richard (Olivia), along with his youngest brother Raymond (Kay), former spouse Rebecca, son Arthur (Braeanne), daughter Kelley (Geronimo), as well as his granddaughter Amaya and grandson Diego. He was also blessed with many nieces and nephews who he loved very much.

Art truly lived his life to the fullest through simple pleasures – spending time with his grandchildren; enjoying a Grand Marnier and fresh cut cigar; indulging in See’s candies; delighting in Hallmark Christmas movies and Christmas carols (whether or not it was actually Christmastime); and most importantly, walking by the ocean at Shelter Island.

Arthur was a man of service, love, laughter and loyalty. Although we take comfort knowing he is now at peace, we are crushed by the pain of his absence and cannot express how much we will miss him.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Padres Foundation in his honor.
