Alain Pascal Germain

May 17, 1965 — September 10, 2024

Alain Pascal Germain entered the gates of heaven peacefully on Sept 10, 2024. He was surrounded by family at the time of his passing.

Alain was a gift given to us by God to represent the goodness of God. He touched the lives of everyone he met with his charm, charisma, an effervescent personality, and his warm heart.

He was born on the French Caribbean Island of Guadeloupe; however, he grew up on the nature island of Dominica before immigrating to the US with his family in 1980. Alain graduated from Miami Central High School where he made lifelong friendships. In the Spring of 1987, while earning an Associate degree in Electronics at Devry Institute, he became a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi, Mu Gamma Chapter. He was the tenth of eleven line brothers and was nicknamed “Finesse.” Whether you came to know Alain twenty years ago or only recently, it is not hard to imagine why he came to be nicknamed “Finesse.” Alain’s passion was his music. As such, shortly after graduating Devry he would go on to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Music at Grambling State University. He later made his move to Los Angeles.

In the Golden State, Alain met a graceful Latina, Monica Hurtado, in Culver City. She became the love of his life and they were married on November 27, 2004. They have three beautiful children: Gabrielle Faith, Estephane Benoit, and Giselle Hope.

Alain initially worked in the movie industry in special effects where he combined his electronics expertise and music talent. He received credits in such movies as Air Force One and Sphere. Later he transitioned to the TV industry, working at Direct TV. It was while at Direct TV his entrepreneurial spirit began to flourish; he started a successful cleaning services business, entered into talent management, and built a small real estate portfolio. While financially rewarding, these ventures were not fulfilling. Thus, based on urging from friends and family, Alain transitioned to a career in sales, and quickly realized he was a natural in the profession. He had an impressive 20-year career in high-end auto sales and was well-known in the art of dealing fine cars, highly respected by his clients and colleagues, and formally recognized on multiple occasions for his success in the industry.

Alain's family was his heart and soul. He enjoyed spending simple, quality time with his children. Sunday afternoons brought frozen ice cream or the movies on a hot summer’s day. He enjoyed music and was naturally full of joy. He would play music any chance he got – whether it was as a member of Fanta Pandemonium steel pan band as a kid in Dominica or playing his saxophone for his kids. That brought him a lot of joy which often resulted in dancing with the kids or showing off impressive moves with his Kappa cane.

Growing up in Dominica, Al was known for his penchant to play jokes and pranks on his family and friends. Being the youngest, he always seemed to get away with it, in no small part due to his ability to charm the targets of his pranks and then share with them hugs and declarations of his love for them – especially if they were still upset, which, by the way, only invited more laughter and teasing from Alain. In the unlikely event he would get spanked, he would scream so hard that mom would convince dad to stop and Al would walk away with a painful look on his face that quickly turned into a wide grin as soon as he was out of their sight.

Considering the global nature of our family, it is no surprise that Al impacted the lives of many people across multiple countries starting with his family who experienced first-hand the love, passion, and commitment of an engaging young man, a husband, a dad, and a brother.

We take comfort in knowing that Alain accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. He grew up in church, beginning with the People’s Pentecostal Church in Dominica. He attended Church On The Way in Miami. His final church home was Faithful Central Bible Church in Inglewood, California, where he was a member for over 10 years. It was there he adopted a new network of lifelong friends, building relationships with men who became his discipleship brothers and steadfastly walked by his side. Alain felt enormously blessed to be among this group of Christian men who continuously encourage each other and keep one another accountable to the principles guided by their faith.

Alain was preceded in death by his father, Ferdie Joseph Germain; Aunt Merielle Bartley; Uncles Edouard Benoit, Elie Benoit, Pierre Benoit, Roland Germain, Rudolph Germain, and Vernon Germain; and brother Alexis Germain.

Alain’s life was his family. Those who will be most profoundly deprived of his energizing personality, the strength of his character, and his never-ending love include his wife, Monica Germain; children Gabrielle Germain, Estephane Germain, and Giselle Germain; his mother, Bertille Germain; siblings, Brenda Emerson, Catherine Germain, Franklin Germain, Johnson Germain, Joseph Germain, Kennedy Germain, Kenneth Germain, Lincoln Germain, and Marcus Germain; Aunt Althea Germain; and Uncles Egbert Germain, Jean Benoit, and Randy Germain.

Al’s life exemplified a legacy of love, laughter, faith, and family. Though we grieve his passing, we are comforted knowing he is in heaven where we will meet him again.
